Οne of the most unique experiences in Greece is trying canyoning at the Vouraikos Canyon; a trail that begins from the mountains of Kalavryta and expands along the Vouraikos Canyon.

Hiking in this majestic place, along the train tracks of Odontotos-a line characterized as the most spectacular railway line of the Balkans- we never cease to enjoy alternating sceneries.

During the hike we are surprised in every step we take either by the huge waterfalls revealed in front of us or by the lush covered walkways. Abandoned stone houses with telegraphs travel us back in time. Disorientated goats, rocks sculpted out of the river’s impetuous water and the most exhilarating of all, the impressive, stone made aerial bridges, leave us speechless! Worth mentioning is the fact that these bridges were the sole link between the various villages even in the early 20th century.

Our route unfolds magically, with the landscape changing gradually from a wild scenery to a milder one, with the river flowing smoothly towards the sea.

The canyon owes its name to one of the Hercules myths taking place at the spot ‘Petres’. Hercules, in a try to reach his beloved Voura, daughter of Eliki, cuts the rock which blocks his way in two by using his knife.

  • Arrival in Agroville, settling down at our rooms and taking a short tour around the farm.
  • A get-to-know your ‘fellow villagers’ night, in Agroville
  • Canyoning at the Vouraikos Canyon, one of the top three rivers of Achaia, with two routes to choose from. A short one (3,5 h) and a long one (6 h).
  • We enjoy a traditional party with delicacies and tsipouro.
  • A ride with Odontontos railway under the shadow of the Helmos mountain between the Vouraikos canyon.
  • On the ‘Farmer life’ day we will pick eggs from the hens, milk our cow, feed the horses, walk by the lake with the ducks and unwind doing many more agricultural activities depending on your mood.
  • We will wake up early and cherish the sunrise from the opposite hill drinking a cup of tea.
  • We will do sports like archery, horse riding, table tennis, hiking the Klokos mountain, on the foot of which our lodging lies.
  • We will have the chance to watch step by step the production of traditional dairy products such as, haloumi, mizithra, yogurt, spinach pie, traditional sweets, and sourdough bread in the oven.
  • A night walk in the nature where an Indian tent will be waiting for us. We will sit by the wood stove to consume the products we will have made earlier this day, tell stories and share experiences of agritourism, look at the stars and the constellations.
  • Greek morning coffee under the plane tree in the square of the village.

Some activities like:
